Day Course: Learn how to perform a full Thermal
Auricular Treatment.
--------------------------------------------------

Ear candling is a
therapeutic form of bodywork that can be used successfully to treat
issues related to the ear and head area. This treatment was used in
India, China, Tibet, Egypt, Mayan, Aztec and American Indian cultures.
Sometimes referred to as Ear Coning or Thermal Auricular treatment. The method used varied
considerably, but the desired results were always the same.
It is further believed that Ear Candling performed on a regular
basis will enhance meditation practices by heightening the
sensitivity. For centuries, many cultures have known that
directing smoke into the ear canal relieves earache pain. Warmth
and smoke from candling may assist the body's natural process to
excrete impacted or infected earwax and stimulate the body's
natural ability to heal. Our ears work very hard for us and it is vital that we care for
them. They respond to tender, loving care! Candling our ears can
promote an emotional and spiritual release of trapped energy.
The
actual treatment can be very relaxing and many people notice an
immediate release of stress and tension. It can increase mental
functioning, sensory perception and it can complement other body work.
It can be used to enhance meditation and increase our awareness into
the ways we listen and the ways we don't listen to each other and
ourselves. There are many physical benefits of coning. In addition to
being emotionally soothing, candling works to alleviate many painful
symptoms by locally administering heat. It softens ear wax; helping
the wax do what it wants to do naturally ... making its own way out of
the ear. Please note that ear wax is not the enemy. It is the body's
ingenious way of protecting our ears from all kinds of injury and
intrusion. But, too much of a good thing can be irritating or painful!
Because the ears, nose and throat are interconnected, promoting health
in the ears can benefit the sinuses and the throat. Relief can be
gained for irritations of the ear, sinus problems, tinnitus (ear
ringing), headaches, dizziness, colds, allergies, congestion, itching,
infection, ear pain from airplane travel and swimmer's ear. Western
medicine has traditionally used invasive methods to treat the ears.
Cotton swabs, metal scrapers and water injectors which force fluid
into the ear canal are intended to dissolve wax and flush it out.
Although these methods might be necessary in some instances, ear
candling can be tried as natural alternative. An ear candle, sometimes
called an ear cone, is a long hollow tube tapered to a hand-finished
tip that fits comfortably into the ear. The large end of the candle is
lit and the smoke created spirals down through the ear canal. The
warmth of the smoke gently dislodges foreign debris, softens old ear
wax and helps evaporate excess moisture. This is believed to relieve
earache pain, provide relief from the pressure in the sinuses and
allow the ear to naturally push out the ear wax.
The ear candling process
is also believed to detoxify the lymphatic system and clear the
sinuses, which can also improve the clarity of hearing, sight, smell
and taste. More subtle changes may occur on an energy level resulting
in greater emotional stability and an overall sense of well-being. Ear
candles should never be used as a substitute for professional medical
treatment. Do not candle if you are currently under the supervision of
a medical doctor for ear, nose and/or throat problems. If you have any
questions or concerns, please consult your health care provider.
DO NOT USE EAR CANDLES if you meet any of the following conditions:
Recent ear surgery, cysts in the ear, mastoiditis (inflammation of the
bone behind the ear), ear tubes, perforated or punctured ear drums,
osteosclerosis (overgrowth of bone tissue), ankylosis of the stapes
(fusing of bony tissue in the ear), tumors or injury of the ear.
Using ear candles is
generally more comfortable and less expensive than conventional
methods, which can be painful. Ear candling is a non-invasive,
peaceful, relaxing and actually quite pleasant experience.
The qualification is suitable for those employed in beauty,
hairdressing and others who wish to acquire this expertise.
