Going Out of Your Mind Through Self-Inquiry

Going out of your mind is a good thing. It is your best thinking that got you here. You are not your mind, your emotions, or your body. Your Real–Self is Consciousness: Delightful and Blissful. It is who you really are, under the haze of thought, perception, and projection. This is all a dream. A friend and I joke during seemingly difficult times, he says, “I’m glad it’s all a dream, or it would be a nightmare”.

Just prior to being introduced to Self-Inquiry I had a mild heart attack and was suffering from high blood pressure, requiring daily medication. After practicing this technique for 5 months, my blood pressure dropped to low-normal and I no longer require medication. I attribute this change to the I Am and Self-Inquiry meditations. It will change your life in a very positive way

It is said “Self-Inquiry is the fastest way to Awakening for some people”. Through continual practice of Self Inquiry and the I AM meditation (which is described below) you will become your Real Nature. As you rest in the Spiritual Heart, this world will reflect the Delightful Awareness of your Real Being, free from fear and delusions. You don’t “think it” into being. It’s the ”not thinking” that gets you there.

Enjoy the first seconds of slipping into the abyss of bliss; it will turn into 10, and on. This will be your easiest “out” from under the burden of struggle. Doubt the doubts and doubt the fears, rest peacefully in the Heart. You will notice your attachments to anger or resentment. Dropping into the Heart, becomes a very deliberate and conscious, though sometimes tough choice. Do you want to be right (and have a heart attack) or do you want to be Enlightened? You don't have to worry about being right or wrong or making things happen, or protecting your boundaries. Just be who you really are, Blissful Awareness.

SELF-INQUIRY: As you become aware of being caught in the world, thinking gone rampart, begin the inquiry. Inquire: “Who Believes This? To whom do these thoughts come? Who feels this?” (You are looking for the source of “I”, the personal I.) Your ego mind will respond, “I am. The thoughts come to me, I think them.”You then inquire, “Who is this I am. Where did it come from? From where does it emerge, how does it emerge? What is I? Who is I” Sounds grammatically incorrect, but you are questioning it from every perspective. (Pose the questions, but never answer them.) Inquire, “Who am I” and then rest in the Silence of the Heart.

I AM MEDITATION: I AM was the first name of God. Simply breath in the “I”, exhale the “Am”. Over and over again in a gentle peaceful way, fall into your Spiritual Heart. Experience and explore the qualities of the Silence of the Heart. It isn’t a thinking game but an EXPERIENCE of your Real Self. If you must think, think of God.

Like the woman carrying water on her head and chatting with friends along the path, you will be able to hold the I AM Heart concentration, as the Divine dreams the dream. I AM that I AM
