Indian head massage  Indian Head Massage or 'Champissage' has been a tradition with Asian people for thousands of years. Indian infants receive a daily massage. Indian women massage their hair with luxurious smelling oils, and Indian barbers will include a simple head massage during your visit. Today an Indian Head Massage involves a varying combination of gentle, soothing, brisk and stimulating movements to the neck, shoulders, upper arms, head and face.

Indian Head Massage is wonderfully relaxing and energy giving, calming and revitalising, nurturing, cleansing and comforting. It is a simple, effective and versatile massage treatment carried out either with carrier oils (with or without pure essential oils) directly onto the skin, or performed over clothes.

Tensions in the muscles most affected by stress are eased, alleviating and reducing stress related conditions such as headaches and migraines. The treatment assists lymphatic drainage and circulation providing more oxygen to the brain, encouraging higher levels of alertness and concentration. Hair and scalp condition can improve by relaxing and stimulating the scalp and nourishing the roots of the hair.

Champissage can relieve chronic neck and shoulder stiffness often brought about by poor posture. It can help unblock deep knotted muscles in the neck and shoulders. This type of massage is also very good for increasing the circulation, toning up muscles, relieving eye strain, headaches, improves concentration, boosts the immune system and generally reviving your body.

Indian Head Massage uplifts you psychologically - rebalancing you physically , mentally and emotionally. It helps counteract the stress and strains of modern day living, leaving you with a sense of well being and relaxation.

--------------------------------------------------

Indian Head Massage is massage and pressure points  applied to the back, neck, scalp and face.

The methods are designed to promote relaxation to relieve stress related muscle tension and to improve blood flow in the head and neck areas.

The techniques are ones that have been used for a thousand years in the Indian sub-continent and the qualification has rationalized the methodology and provided it in an insurable format.

The qualification is suitable for those employed in beauty, hairdressing and others who wish to acquire this expertise. Depending on the course level you choose, no prior experience may be required, but students are recommended to have a level of general education comparable to pass grade GCSEs, or above, or other qualifications at Levels 2 and 3.

Also we strongly recommend that students do their Anatomy and Physiology level 3 together with Health and Safety, as the law is changing continuingly and it is always the possibility that soon it will be a requirement in order to practice with the general public.

As the treatment can be performed without the removal of clothing, it is commonly used on airlines, in offices and workplaces, particularly where there are stressful situations or physical problems arising form continuous use of computers. More recently the techniques have spread to be used in hotels as single treatment provision, because it needs only a limited space for application.

Whilst the origins of Indian Head Massage are in the Eastern tradition of Ayurvedic medicine, this form of massage is not dependent on that, but it may provide a means of introduction for progression qualifications

What are the benefits?

Indian head massage is especially good for relieving stress, tension, fatigue, insomnia, headaches, migraine and sinusitis. Clients report that the experience is deeply calming and relaxing, leaving them feeling energised and revitalised and better able to concentrate.

It helps to increase joint mobility and flexibility in the neck and shoulders, improves blood circulation and lymphatic flow, frees knots of muscular tension, relaxes connective tissue, and aids in the elimination of accumulated toxins and waste products. It is particularly good for reducing the effects of stress and tension
